Honestly, I hadn’t considered any of his songs essential. Had not thought in terms of the essentiality of his work. Now I’m reconsidering just based on that gorgeous mane alone.

From “This Is It” to “House At Pooh Corner” it’s all here. Take a trip back to the “Danger Zone” or remember how you know “What A Fool Believes” (Album Version). Apparently this stuff is 2-discs essential.
But let’s dig deeper… proclaiming (on Amazon.com) this the best Kenny Loggins collection, Guillermoj of Washington DC offers some insight into the curatorial challenges with this type of shit:
I don’t give this release a full 5 stars (“only” 4+) because it omitted “Love Will Flow”, which is an essential song, and the 2nd CD could have used some finetuning as some of his recent songs are not as strong as other material. My suggestion is to buy this great collection and make your own private 1 CD copy as I did. It was hard to try fit all MY essentials in only one CD, but I reluctantly left out “Danger Zone” to make my songs fit.
Respect.
But the news isn’t all good. Hudson G. Tannis, aka “DR.GROOVE” of Laurelton, NY says what we’re all thinking:
To leave out one of Kenny Loggins best Hits is an insult to me…. well guess what it was plain stupid… no one will tolerate this type of omission… guess i will keep looking.
As I don’t care very much, and he doesn’t mention the missing hit, I can only suggest he also compile his own priviate KL hits CD. As for the rest of us, perhaps we don’t have to keep looking at all, and the essentialist Kenny Loggins will simply find its way to our iPods after getting drunk at a party and spending $.99 on “Footloose”, or maybe “Your Mamma Don’t Dance”.
